Spain’s Squad for Euro 2012 portrays the World Cup Winning team

The defending Champions-Spain’s Euro 2012 team has players which are unbeatable and most of them have played in the World Cup winning team. This also means that the most important position; Attacking has been assigned to Alvaro Negredo instead of the injured (leg surgery), all-time-Spanish super-striker David Villa.

Spanish manager Vincente del Bosque called upon several players and finalized his team. Valencia striker Roberto Soldado was left behind and Atletico Madrid’sAdrian Lopez was also out of the squad despite scoring in the 2-0 friendly win over Serbia.

The 23 man squad also includes Barcelona’s Pedro Rodriguez who was selected after having closing a strong season for his club. Fernando Torres who scored in the 1-0 final with Germany also completes the the squad. The forward line will be filled by Fernando Llorente, David Silva, Juan Mata and Jesus Navas.
However the defending line also includes fullbacks Jordi Alba and Juanfran Torres and the center-back Raul Albiol. But for the midfield, things are quite different. Del Bosque left out midfielder Thiago Alcantara and took a leap for Cesc Fabregas who isn’t available for at least 10 days due to injury.

Standouts for the team include Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta from Barcelona whereas Real Madrid has 5 of its players playing the League; Sergio Ramos, Alvaro Arbeloa, Albiol, Xabi Alonso and Captain Iker Casillas. Spain will open group C on June 10 against Italy before facing Ireland and Croatia.
